Extend the life of your blooms
It's best to change the water every two days to keep your flowers fresh and vibrant. Be sure to use clean, room-temperature water each time.
Yes, trim the stems at an angle about 1-2 inches every two days. This helps the flowers absorb water more efficiently.
Keep your flowers in a cool area, away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat sources. Avoid placing them near fruits, as some fruits release ethylene gas, which can shorten the lifespan of your flowers.
Yes, using the flower food packet that comes with your arrangement can help extend the life of your flowers. Follow the instructions on the packet for best results.
Remove any wilted or dead flowers from the arrangement to prevent bacteria from spreading. You can also give the stems a fresh trim and change the water.
Yes, you can use tap water. However, if your tap water is very hard or chlorinated, consider using filtered water to help your flowers last longer.
Lightly misting the petals with water can help keep them hydrated, especially in dry environments. Just be careful not to overdo it, as excess moisture can cause mold.
Clean your vase thoroughly with soap and water before arranging your flowers, and add a few drops of bleach to the water to help prevent bacterial growth.
While it's not always necessary, refrigerating your flowers overnight can help extend their lifespan. Be sure to keep them away from fruits and vegetables in the fridge.
Trim the stems and place the flowers in warm water for a few minutes, then move them back to fresh, cool water. This can help revive drooping petals.
Different flowers may have specific care instructions. For example, roses benefit from removing thorns and submerged leaves, while tulips prefer cooler temperatures. Check our Flower Care Guide for detailed tips on various flower types.
Yes, you can make a homemade flower preservative by mixing one teaspoon of sugar, one teaspoon of lemon juice, and a few drops of bleach in a quart of water.
Avoid placing flowers in direct sunlight, near heating vents, or in the path of drafts. Also, avoid overcrowding the vase, as flowers need space to breathe.
